Banking in Nebraska Communities

We're not a big box bank that takes a one-size-fits-all approach. We're native Nebraskans, and we know Nebraska. We'll get to know you until you're a part of our family.

Our History in Nebraska Communities

Banking Where We Live

The First State Bank Community Commitment

We are Nebraska grown, and we give back to the communities around us. It is part of our DNA. When you deposit funds into a community bank, your money is invested back into the community in the form of loans to fellow residents and entrepreneurs. As a locally owned bank, we pride ourselves on giving back to our communities. We accomplish this by financing local projects through purchasing municipal and school bonds. This ensures that your money stays local! First State Bank is proud to pay our fair share in taxes, which is not the case for some other financial institutions. Since 1906, First State Bank has had the privilege of serving Nebraska residents and their families by making loans that help them to buy a farm, home, business, or vehicle. We have proudly served many of our local ag producers and businesses that have been a part of our community for generations.

1st State Bank is chartered in Gothenburg, NE.
Our first drive-up location allows folks to pull in and then drive away.
We purchased a bank in Omaha.
To add to our Omaha offerings, we constructed a second location.
1st State arrives in Mullen, NE where we established a fifth location.
Our 6th and 7th locations spring up in North Platte and Wallace.

Banking in Nebraska Communities for Over a Century

We’ve recently remodeled our Gothenburg branch to update our banking legacy where it all started. Through community investments like this, in neighborhoods throughout the great state of Nebraska, First State Bank is committed to continuing our mission. The One Bank for Nebraska.

Community Support

Taking Care of Our Neighborhoods

Whether it’s through our yearly Easter Egg Hunt, or by helping to establish a new YMCA, we’re committed to making the towns and cities we’re in better, one project at a time. We encourage our employees to donate their time and their resources to hundreds of community nonprofit organizations, and we support those same organizations through corporate donations and sponsorships.

Our monthly jean day donations have raised over $10,000 to various charities, organizations, and people in need.
First State Bank pledged the initial $500,000 to build a new YMCA to keep Gothenburg healthy.
In Gothenburg, First State Bank has hosted the popular community Easter Egg Hunt for over 25 years.
Became the official bank and corporate sponsor of the Nebraska Greats Foundation.
In Omaha, First State Bank is a proud supporter of Abide.
